------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Sep 2 07:45:17 -0700 2005 ------- It's clear that this bug isn't going to be fixed any time soon, so I have added a help page on the web to help others who run into this problem in future as it wasted many hours of my own time trying to work out what was happening. Just to recap for others who may find this thread: The work-around to this bug is to use the file/export facility which works properly. You use ctrl-a to select all the object and then choose file/export to export the combined image into an external file. You then need to import that external file back into OpenOffice and you now have a properly combined image. There is an additional gotcha - You must make certain that the objects (e.g. labels) that you apply to the image you are editing are on top of the image. THe best way to ensure this is to select the image, then right-click and choose "arrange" then "send to back". Otherwise, the image you are editing can obstruct the labels during the export and you still lose the labels! In the near future I will write a macro that will help automate this work-around and make sure that things like sending the backgroud image to background are not forgotten. It's a pity that the bug reported here won't be fixed because unfortunately, when you are using the workaround, you can't see the results immediately, you first need to import the file that you exported before you can see whether the results that you expect have actually happened! Finally, there is a reasonable chance that some developer at some time will run into this problem and get a fix in for it. I would work on a patch myself but it will just get blocked because the bug isn't being acknowledged at this stage. So if you happen to be someone browsing the bug lists and you notice that a fix has happened, please post this information here so that I can know and update my online help accordingly. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
