Description
OOo supports many address book types, but not the KDE address books.
KDE is a major desktop environment on Unix/Linux platforms.
The address book library is used consistently across all KDE applications:
kmail, kontact, kaddressbook, kandy, kpilot, etc. It can store its data
locally (VCF format), or on LDAP servers, in databases, etc.
This new feature allows the end user to access its address book just like any
other data source. For example, she/he can do serial letters based on her/his
contacts. The programmers can naturally use this new data source from their
favourite APIs.
The new address book is integrated into the list of available databases and in
the address book wizard.
Current limitations
- no add/update access to the address book
- not fully localized
- does not honour some SQL constructs
- not fully SDBCX-compliant
