Hi Joyce,

Unfortunately Himalayan Androsaces wouldn't deign to grow here in SE
Pennsylvania. The closest I've come to a Cambark alternative is the BioComp
BC5 compost I use extensively - it contains composted peanut hulls and
composted bark. I haven't looked but you may also be able to buy 'pure'
composted bark. The BC5 is wonderful though, cut 50;50 with perlite.

Best,

J.

Subject: [Alpine-l] Fine Cambark equivalency

Dr. John Lonsdale writes, Himalayan androsaces should be sown in a mixture
containing 30% fine Cambark. What is the US equivalent to cambark.

Thanks, Joyce Miller, Gresham, Oregon
