I'd love yellow phlox..but betting not hardy for me.
I suspect that was one reason for their disappearance from horticulture; the other being difficulty of propagation. The late Homer Hill, of Arvada, Colorado, propagated them by root cuttings. I had ‘Mary Maslin’ in the garden here for many years; it died last winter. Still have ‘Arroyito’, Homer’s introduction, which is probably a cross between ‘Arroyo’ and Phlox subulata. P. subulata isn’t winter hardy in my garden, but ‘Arroyito’ is. It has no above-ground growth in the winter.
