[Alsa-user] Viavoice

I can't use viavoice with my Yamaha 192xg.
I could use my card to listen wav but I can't do the configuration for
viavoice.
In the viavoice doc,there is a test 
      # dd bs=8k count=4 </dev/audio > /tmp/sample.au
         # cat /tmp/sample.au > /dev/audio

But it doesn't work for me

Is there something I could try
