Hello,
        I have a Linux 2.2.19 (on a Slackware 8.0) and a ESS SOLO1 sound
card.
I've built all alsa driver. The wav sound is ok, but I can't use midi
device.
My /proc/asound/sndstat is:

Sound Driver:3.8.2-980706 (ALSA v0.5.12 emulation code)
Kernel: Linux BlckHoLe 2.2.19 #5 Wed Nov 7 11:04:47 CET 2001 i686
Config options: 0

Installed drivers:
Type 10: ALSA emulation

Card config:
ESS Solo-1 rev 0, irq 5
Virtual MIDI Card 1

Audio devices:
0: ESS Solo-1 (DUPLEX)

Synth devices: NOT ENABLED IN CONFIG

Midi devices:
1: Virtual Raw MIDI

Timers:
7: system timer

Mixers:
0: ESS Solo-1

I think that the synth is the problem... the kernel documentation said
this:

" MIDI synthesizer
  ----------------

The card has an OPL compatible FM synthesizer. "

I can't understand what I do! Can you help me?
Which modules do I have to load?
Thanx a lot
                                                        SciDo
