excellent! :-) that's certainly the right answer. ;-) so, now that i have a soundcard (aztech galaxy) that works with oss/sgalaxy, but not with alsa/snd-card-sgalaxy, on the same machine, it seems like i should be able to debug this. (under alsa, writes and flushes fail with an EIO and the message "snd: playback flush error (DMA or IRQ trouble?)". any tips on the best approach? i suppose i'll get it via brute force eventually, but any techniques or tips would be much appreciated. i guess i'll start by ensuring that the same config values are written to the card in both cases, and that the kernel resources are allocated the same. paul =--------------------- paul fox, [EMAIL PROTECTED] (arlington, ma, where it's 52.3 degrees) _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
