First, i want to congratulate the entire ALSA team for the fabulous
work! I'm using the ALSA sound driver almost "by default" on most of my
recent systems, and it works so much better than other sound drivers!...
Keep up the good work!

Now, since i bought a home theater with Dolby Digital input (and 5+1
speakers), i also bought a SBLive card, in order to be able to take
advantage of the surround facilities. I was able to connect the 3.5mm
digital output of the soundcard to the RCA coax digital input of the
home theater (so i'm using the digital output to send signal to the
amplifier, not the analog output) and it works fine.

Under Linux, with Xine, i'm able to play DVDs and hear the surround
effects quite good. Also, XMMS works just fine.
Under Windows, i was able to play a game (Star Wars Pod Racer) with
surround sound, WinAMP works great, and so does Windows CD player. And
that's everything i need under Windows.

There's only one exception: the CD player under Linux (Grip) doesn't
work. I have both digital and analog cables connected from the CD-ROM to
the sound card, and under Windows it looks like both are working fine
(well, i'm actually using the digital one).
But under Linux i don't get any sound from the audio CD.
I tried to play with alsamixer, and turned controls up and down, but
nothing happened. There's no error in the log files, or anything else
suspicious.
What am i doing wrong?

I'm using these things:
- ALSA-0.9.10
- SBLive (i think it's the first model, older than Live MP3, Live Value,
Live Platinum and such)
- Linux Red Hat 7.2
- kernel-2.4.9-13 from Red Hat updates (the i686 version)
- gcc-2.96-98-redhat
- glibc-2.2.4-19
- i815 motherboard (the onboard i8x5 soundcard is disabled from BIOS)
- PIII/600

If there's anything i can do to help you debug it, please tell me what
to do, and i'll try it.

Regards,
