Swap, IIRC was broken 2.5.2, and a patch made for it about a fortnight
ago. It made it into 2.5.3.

This it definitely did. I was using alsa 0.5.10b all the way up to
kernel 2.5.1, then it broke. upgraded to 0.5.12a for 2.5.1 and 2.5.2. now it
seems that neither will compile for 2.5.3, even after the MINOR -> minor
change, as posted from before.
