hi again,, I didn't have alsa-libs or alsa-utils so got those and compiled and was fine.....also to note I grabbed alsa0.9.0beta10 if it matters as I've seen others have had trouble with same one just beta9 ??..and I have kernel 2.4.17 on RH7.2 and ymf740c.
I will paste in a section I saw in a prior post and comment since it seems relevant: ------------------------------------ The driver is loaded; there are no kernel errors reported; /proc/asound/cards lists the card; /proc/asound/sndstat shows the card, the audio device, the OPL3, and the MPU-401; if I unmute the builtin microphone and turn on the 20db boost I can get feedback with the builtin speakers; lsmod shows ymfpci as used; I've configured the kernel sources. ------------------------------------ my comments to above:: yes driver is loaded and the card is listed in /proc/asound/cards,,/proc/asound/sndstat shows the card, yes to audio device but no synth or midi or anything about OPL3? or MPU-401 ? lsmod shows ymfpci there but it is unused which tells me thats the trouble but I cant' find how to resolve that ...and output of amixer shows nothing muted so i'm stumped and mabye indeed I should revert to older alsa package as was mentioned earlier.....0.5.12??? I just now thought well what else...so I did modprobe snd-card-ymfpci,,then issued 'esd' in a shell and then I was getting a 'used' status by the driver in lsmod......still no sound.. ...last but not least I"m using enlightenment 0.16 in gnome1.4 and the rest is in first part of this email--gosh did I forget anything <G>.....whew thx lee -==== _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
