I've tried both of the above versions on my on-board Intel ICH. In both
versions I have the following serious problem.

All PCM data is played at a rate of about 110% of the expected speed,
resulting in speed and pitch shifting.

I've tried raw aplay as well as play (sox) and xmms on top of the oss
compatibility layer with the same result. I've tried a variety of wavs and
mp3s from different sources and they all behave similarly.

Kernel is 2.4.18, system is RedHat 7.2 on x86.

(A possibly related note: the OSS drivers included in the 2.4 series kernel
worked even worse - PCM data was played at about 1000% of the expected speed
but no sound was produced at all. Warnings about unsupported bit depths
accompanied playback).

Does anyone have any idea what could be the problem?
