Hello list: I'm using Suse 7.3 with kernel 2.4.10 on a PentiumII 450 with an onboard ess 1869 soundchip.
The installation of the sound appeared to work fine, as far as the configuration program YaST2 is concerned. However, any digital sound echo like a defective CD in a CD-player. But playing regular music CD's is no problem.Has anybody encountered such a problem and found a solution? I'm not really an expert on computer guts, the only thing that appears strange is that aplay -w.somesound.wav gives: Aplay: version 0.5.10 by Jaroslav Kysela <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Using soundcard 'ESS AudioDrive ES1869 at 0x220, irq 5, dma1 1, dma2 3' and more /proc/asound/cards gives 0 [card1 ]: ES1869 - ESS AudioDrive ES1869 ESS AudioDrive ES1869 at 0x220, irq 5, dma1 1, dma2 3 According to the BIOS, the first DMA is 1 and the second DMA is 0, while in the above mentioned outputs the value for the second DMA appears to be set to 3 Can anybody help me here?? Many thanks in advance, cpapan _______________________________________________ Alsa-user mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/alsa-user
