>From what you write, it would appear that you don't have the full kernel
sources which are required to compile alsa drivers. Or, you might have the 
sources in a directory other than /usr/src/linux. If you do, then symlink 
your source root to /usr/src/linux with something like:

ln -s your_source_root /usr/src/linux
