I try in other computers with great sucess one als120 and other es1371. i use grub so I can try all this kernels : Debian 2.2.19 Redhat 2.4.7-10 Redhat 2.4.9-21 redhat 2.4.9-21custom Linux 2.4.18 and Linux 2.5.7
My laptop in one compaq 706EA and I found this that could be interting Chipset VIA VT8362 Apollo Pro Savage KN 133 and the audio controler is : AC Link audio 1886 ADI Codec. or from viaarena: one Athlon™ 4 Processor integrated AC97, MC97 Audio/Modem Support for Advanced Communications Riser (ACR) Car Standard Integrated 2 Channel AC-97 Audio 552-pin BGA VT8363A North Bridge 352 -pin BGA VT82C686B South Bridge in 2 april of 2002 on http://www.viaarena.com/ we have a new drive for Redhat 7.2 with kernel 2.4.7-10 I will try today. so the question is one via686 ?
