Which soundcard do you have?

If you've got a snd-<foo>-synth module loaded, then chances are it has
an onboard synth and you can play them through that using pmidi:

(Note that you'll also need to load a soundfont using the sbiload
 program from the alsa-tools package.)

If not, you'll need to use a software sequencer like timidity.
