The procedure given by Garrick Sitonga is missing something if you use LM-8.2
as it is.

I got quite the same and I disciver that /sbin/depmod needs System.map which is
missing in /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-6mdk! But the System.map used by ML is is /boot
I did after "make":
su -<password>
cd /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-6mdk
ln -s /boot/System.map-2.4.18-6mdk System.map
Come back to the alsa-diver directory
cd /home/src/alsa-driver-*/
make install
And it worked !
