ALSA will certainly run your emu10k1 very happily - I'm using one here
right now.  However, to install it, it will help greatly if you're happy
with the process of compiling your own kernel.  (Unless Redhat do ALSA
RPMs?)  If not, ALSA is probably not for you just yet.

Certainly does here...  Plus it supports the hardware MIDI synth,
4.1/5.1 surround, etc. with no problems (get xine and you can have your
DVDs in proper surround-sound :)

So, in summary, if you're ready to get a little technical, ALSA will do
everything that you want (and lots more that you'll never even need, I
suspect...)
