I don't have /etc/alsa.conf, but instead /etc/alsa/alsa-base.conf, because I
installed the debian packages for ALSA.
I do have /etc/asound.conf, though:
root@simba:/etc/alsa/modutils# less /etc/asound.conf
pcm.cs46xx {
type hw
card 0
device 0
}
(I got the syntax/information from the WIKI page for ALSA.)
Any ideas? I previously ran snddevices as root, could that be the problem?
(Although the README did say to run it...)
