Hi!
I am no expert, but the /dev/dsp problem maybe easy to solve. Maybe the
oss-emulation is not loaded, so there won't be any /dev/dsp. I don't know
where to configure that. but you may try aplay. Be sure the volumes are
raised and the channesl are unmuted. Use alsamixer or some GUI-mixer for alsa
to do so.
I don't know about the cs4236-module very well. But I have a terratec ews
64. With my card there are other problems, I admit that. But I thought, that
there had been something with the isapnp support for that module. If thinkpad
is pci, I think you don't have to worry about that.
I hope this may help and I hope, that the module problems I encountered were
solely based on my weird card.
