Hello!
I don't know very much about the via chip, but as I told you, I also had a
lot of problems with my mic. But maybe you might try to use aumix, which is an
ossmixer. Remember to load the oss-simulation (oss-*). But if you have a real
sb16 or another (not onboard) card, better use that one, for the via is trash.
I did some recording with it (through line-in) and it had no bass. Truly,
there was very few noise, but the sound otherwise was not acceptable!
