Hello...
In order to try out Rosegarden, I installed the ALSA v0.9.0rc7 drivers.
(I'm running RedHat 7.3, kernel 2.4.18-3, on an i586, with an ISA PnP
ESS 1869-based sound card). Trying to run Rosegarden on a computer with
a 500Mhz CPU may be wishful thinking, but that's another story...
When compiling the drivers, I got the following errors (or something
very similar):
Unresolved symbols in snd-gus-synth.o
Unresolved symbols in snd-emu8000-synth.o
Unresolved symbols in snd-emu10k1-synth.o
Unresolved symbols in snd-trident-synth.o
Unresolved symbols in snd-emux-synth.o
When rebooted after installation, Linux complained about the same thing
(these files were now located in the /lib/modules/2.4.18-3/kernel/sound/
directory). So I moved them out, and got no further complaints when booting.
My sound card works fine (thanks to your excellent documentation). My
questions are: 1) What did I do wrong during compilation; and 2) Do I
need these snd-*-synth.o files?
Thanks -
- Andrew Heil
