Hi Right, I think I'm starting to get somewhere with Alsa now. :)
I discovered I needed to have the SB Live Analog/Digital Output Jack control muted to hear analog sound (I'm sure there's logic in there somewhere...?). So I can now play sounds through OSS emulation and hear them. :)) My only problems now are with the mixer. None of the main mixer controls (Master, PCM, Center, Bass, Treble, etc.) seem to have any effect. The only one I have working is the Wave Surround control, which seems to act as a volume control (?). At some point I also had a lot of oddly-named SB Live controls (perhaps I need to insmod something?), most of which seemed to control the volume and a couple controlled the balance. None of it made much sense though. :| Do you think I might have the mixer set up wrongly? I'm sure this wasn't the intended behaviour as I can't even use XMMS to change the volume (it links to the PCM control), so I must be doing something wrong... Thanks for your help so far. :) Cheers, Jay -- http://www.evilrealms.net/ - Systems Administrator & Developer http://www.ic.ac.uk/ - Imperial College, 2nd year CS student ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SlickEdit Inc.
