There is a trick to it :) You need to enable the joystick port before loading the ns558 driver, which is done by tweaking a (pseudo-) mixer setting. You can use amixer: amixer cset iface=CARD,name='Joystick Enable' 1 You could put this into your modules.conf as a pre-install action for ns558.
