well, it seems that many (if not all) can't seem to get alsa version 0.9.1 or later to work. they all seem to get that 'unresolved symbol' error message. i have tried both redhat 7.3 and 8.0 and alsa versions from 0.9.0 rc8 upto 0.9.2 with no success.
anyone out there with a non-redhat distro that has gotten alsa 0.9.1 or later to work? we need to narrow it down to something and it's, obviously, not related to the type of soundcard. can some please send in the following: 1) distro and version 2) cpu 3) kernel version 4) whether you have or have not had success. if so, please specify what version of alsa you're using. 5) any other information you feel would help. i'm not a programmer and i'm still a newbie to Linux, so perhaps none of the above info will be relevant but we've have to start somewhere since so many people have been having issues. thank you.
