Yes, the current limit is 8.

You can, but the snddevices script creates device files for 4 cards by
default. To change this, you have to edit a variable somewhere in the
first few lines of snddevices.

I'm currently porting the btaudio driver to ALSA, but it will be
finished, well, when it's finished :) , which won't be in the next few
days.
