I did, I tried many different options too.  This is for a cs-4231 chipset 
on a Zenith laptop.  Win98 reported using Microsoft Sound System, and 
Sound Blaster Emulation from the devices TAB.  I'm pretty sure that was 
the name of it, it was default anyways, and it worked.  I wonder why ALSA 
isn't seeing it.
