Yes, there was. My motherboard is a Asus A7S333, that comes with a
C-Media CMI8738, that I disabled in BIOS and with a jumper (I don't
get it why there is an option in the BIOS if you have to change a
jumper...). This onboard sound appears correctly when enabled.

I just don't want to use it 'cause most of time I'm compiling other
programs and playing MP3/OGG at the same time and I can see that the
sound starts lagging (pauses in the middle of play).

Also, I believe that the other periferals don't have any sound playing
stuff.
