Hello.
I'm using intel8x0 Alsa driver; on mixer application (alsamixer and mixer_applet2 (Gnome)) master volume does not work... on the other hand master volume seems to be the one labelled "Surround" in alsamixer. Maybe a driver mistake? I have an integrated card on Intel D865PERL main board (called "SoundMAX" I think, lspci: "Intel Corp. 82801EB AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)").
I have the same mb/soundcard and same problem, here's the reply I've got from Takashi while back (didn't have time to ty it yet):
"please try cvs version. i added many changes for ICH boards. if still doesn't work, please let me know the pci subsystem id (output of "lspci -nv")."
