Hello,
I am having a bit of trouble getting MIDI to work on my sound card. I am using alsa 0.9.4.
The problem is that everything seems to be in order, and yet I cannot play midi files :-|
Here is the result lf "lsmod":
--------------------------------------------------- [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2.4.20-8]# lsmod Module Size Used by Tainted: P snd-seq-midi 5280 0 (unused) snd-seq-oss 34560 0 snd-seq-midi-event 5672 0 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss] snd-seq 47184 2 [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi-event] ide-cd 35708 0 (autoclean) cdrom 33728 0 (autoclean) [ide-cd] snd-pcm-oss 45572 0 (autoclean) snd-mixer-oss 16408 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss] snd-intel8x0 22564 0 (autoclean) snd-pcm 85248 0 (autoclean) [snd-pcm-oss snd-intel8x0] snd-page-alloc 8436 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0 snd-pcm] snd-timer 19588 0 (autoclean) [snd-seq snd-pcm] snd-ac97-codec 47944 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0] snd-mpu401-uart 5200 0 (autoclean) [snd-intel8x0] snd-rawmidi 18560 0 (autoclean) [snd-seq-midi snd-mpu401-uart] snd-seq-device 6204 0 (autoclean) [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq snd-rawmidi] snd 42916 0 (autoclean) [snd-seq-midi snd-seq-oss snd-seq-midi-event snd-seq snd-pcm-oss snd-mixer-oss snd-intel8x0 snd-pcm snd-timer snd-ac97-codec snd-mpu401-uart snd-rawmidi snd-seq-device] soundcore 6404 5 (autoclean) [snd] -----------------------------------------------
My modules.conf contains:
---------------------------- ## General # ALSA portion alias char-major-116 snd # OSS/Free portion alias char-major-14 soundcore
## Native Devices: ALSA portion # yamaha (intel8x0) alias snd-card-0 snd-intel8x0 #options snd-intel8x0 snd_id=CARD_0

----------------------------------------
(I added the midi module my hand).
And yet, nothing seems to work :-(
[EMAIL PROTECTED] merc]$ pmidi -l Port Client name Port name [EMAIL PROTECTED] merc]$ cat /dev/sequencer cat: /dev/sequencer: No such device [EMAIL PROTECTED] merc]$ cat /dev/midi cat: /dev/midi: No such device [EMAIL PROTECTED] merc]$
What shall I do? Any suggestions?
Bye,
Merc.
