I use alsa-lib version 0.9.6 and alsa-driver 0.9.5.
I see that there is a version 0.9.7 available for both, I'll upgrade to those versions today, but I know that I was using another version before and upgrading didn't solve the problem.

I've never heard of that error with snd-intel8x0.
What ALSA version are you using? Have the alsa-driver and alsa-lib packages the same version?
Could you try to use the latest version?
