the chip is likely non-pnp, so you have to specify the ports, irq, dma numbers manually as module options, in addition to isapnp=0 option. you can try alsaconf and let it probe the legacy isa chip. btw, now alsaconf is on alsa-utils on cvs. it was on alsa-drivers/utils directory.
