I have a Guillemot Fortissimo 2 soundcard, with a CS4614/22/24 chip installed on a Debian.
The alsa installation went very fine except that I cannot get any sounds on my rear speakers when I'm using XMMS for example. Modifying the three possible 3D options I have in alsamixer (3D control - depth/center/switch) does not change anything. Unmutting the headphones as it is suggested on the page for the CS4614 does not make any differences neither.
I tried aplay -D test.wav pcm.front and aplay -D test.wav pcm.rear. Although I get the error "aplay: pcm_write:1084: write error: Input/output error", I get sound in the front and in the rear speakers.
Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? It seems that the 3D sound trouble is common on CS46XX chips, although I haven't been able to find any working solution.
Thanks,
Emmanuel
