I was never able to get ens1371 to work on with alsa on kernel 2.4.x (I used the OSS modules), but it now works well except for the following oddity.
I have all the necessary sound support modules including ens1371.ko compiled and installed as modules. When I issue 'modprobe snd-ens1371', all the expected sound modules are loaded, seemingly with no errors. The sound card makes the expected click, and lsmod indicates that all the expected modules are now loaded. However, devfsd has not created the appropriate /dev/dsp, etc., so the soundcard is not usable. If I then do 'rmmod snd-ens1371' and 'modprobe snd-ens1371', the /dev/dsp etc entries have been created, the list of loaded modules is identical, and the soundcard is usable. Is this an alsa problem or a devfsd problem? I'm using a SoundBlaster 16pci card, if that makes any difference. -- Collins Richey - Denver Area if you fill your heart with regrets of yesterday and the worries of tomorrow, you have no today to be thankful for. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: SF.net Giveback Program.
