I've searched the web and the alsa mailing lists for a week now, and havn't
found a single message containg a solution to this, but tons of the exact
opposite. My system has two playback devices (see below), both of which are
apparently healty, functioning correctly both with oss emulation and native
alsa. What I expirience is lack of analog output from all jacks except
line-out.
I am suspecting that I may have misuderstood something but my impression was
that the IEC958-playback device is used for surround/digital out (SPDIF, I do
not have digital speakers) .
So I naturally expected the system to play sounds to my analogue speakers when
I used /dev/adsp or hw:0,1 as output. I can clearly see that the IEC958 is
occupied playing sound, but I can't find a mixer setting (or other setting)
that will make the system pipe audio to any analog output.
Can anyone offer some guidance (I tried umuting all mixer controls available)?
