Hi,
As far as I remember (since the RC of the alsa-0.9 series), I didn't see
this problem with former releases of the alsa-driver on my system with
the VIA VT8233 southbridge.
When I start playing an audio file like a .mp3 or .ogg, the sound is
irremediably crackling and I get the error :
Audio device open for 44.1Khz, stereo, 16 bit failed
Trying 44.1Khz, 8 bit stereo.
Audio device open for 44.1Khz, stereo, 8 bit failed
With xmms, the error is :
mmap_commit Le fichier existe (The file exists)
at the beginning of the play.
If use an application where the sound is directly transmitted from the
line-in, there is no problem, the sound is clear.
These errors happens with 2.6.0-test9-mm2 kernel (the first 2.6 series I
try) and 2.4.20-r5 to r8 series of gentoo kernel and 2.4.22 vanilla
kernel.
Thank you for reading this message.
