I tried the new ALSA release and it seems I need no more to reboot if at
boot I can't hear sounds (it happened sometimes on 2.4.23 and I never
focused the real problem).

The 'semaphore' problem, on the other hand, isn't solved and you're
right, it's indeed an ACPI problem: with the old BIOS of my laptop (an
ASUS M3N), the ALSA drivers never gave this kind of problem, so there's
something changed in the BIOS and in the ACPI DSDT. When I got the
message in 'dmesg', sound starts playing faster and distorted, but
suddenly after 5sec it comes back to normal. This is quite the same
behaviour of my keyboard when I get another semaphore problem (in this
case the keyboard stop responding for 5sec). ATM no guys at ACPI-devel
post a possible solution :-( Just you to know.

Gismo / Luca
