Hi,

i played around with seq24 and saw that it is one of those old apps that
insist on using hw midi ports and won't polay nice with alsa-patch-bay.
Well then, i thought, the solution to this is to use the virmidi module
which provides a virtual hw midi port [or better: several of them].

Now my question is: how do i use the virmidi module? In seq24 i selected
Virmidi 1-0 as an output port. Then in alsa-patch-bay i connected the
readable Virmidi 1-0 to the writable fluidsynth port. No signal [no
sound and the small midi lamp on qsynth doesn't light up]. Then i tried
connecting all readable virmidi ports to fluid synth. still nothing.

Ok, then i thought: Hmm, maybe it is because seq24 sux0rz. So i tried
vkeybd and told it to send to Virmidi 1-0. Still no signal in
fluidsynth. So, seq24 seems not to suck :)

Is the virmidi broken or did i just miss some important aspect of
configuring its routing? Maybe it needs to be explicitly told to route
from certain input to certain output ports?

Any hints?

Flo
