I just updated to kernel 2.6.1 which seems to have Alsa 0.9.7.
I have a P4P800 motherboard with an ICH5 chipset.
All the channels are unmuted and the volumes raised.
Yet I still hear absolutely no sound.
Xmms and aplay work fine with no errors, just no sound.
Is this something known and fixed in 1.x?
Any chance of Linux 2.6.2 including Alsa 1.0.1?
