I have bean following this list for a couple of weeks now, and I still have some questions. I didn't read all the threads toe.
Someone says that when compiling a new 2.6 kernel from 2.4 I should not select ALSA from the kernel source, but download the source from ALSAs' webpage instead, is this true? And why is it in the 2.6 kernel? Today I'm running Slackware 9.1 and ALSA does work with the default 2.4 kernel from Slackware. What devices do I need for the sound to work? Does ALSA depend on other things from the kernel source, like devfs?
