In that case: maybe I did something wrong?
What exactly did you do?
I did the following:
1. edited include/adriver.h :
basically thats only inserting the { int dummy; } part.
2. make clean (To be sure...)
3. make
4. make install
5. Checked /lib/usr/.../kernel/sound/ and found it's all new.
6. executed alsaconf
and
7. got the same error.
Do you propose to do anything else?
