ladies, gentlemen,

bear with me, this stuff is rather new to me - tia! :)

I have a Fujitsu-Siemens machine (one of 16 @$orkplace) which refuses to make sound with alsa 1.0.2c and lib/utils from today, on both, Suse 9.0 (2.4.21-166-default) and fedora1. It does, though, deliver sound nicely using OSS drivers (ac97_codec and i810_audio), so i assume speakers and cabling are ok... :)

jcdutton was so kind to take a look into it, and eventually suggested i turn up/unmute the headphones in alsamixer (like also suggested in the fwd by sean turnbull) - but i don,t have any slider like that?

i followed hints on http://opensrc.org/alsa/index.php?page=intel8x0 and tried inserting

% amixer -c 0 sset Headphone,0 55 unmute
amixer: Unable to find simple control 'Headphone',0

I would be _very_ grateful for any hints, ideas, whatnots - and of course willing to provide all further information needed.

tia, greets, tobi... :)
