Hi,
I've posted a few times about the Tascam US428. I believe I have it
working to some degree after a series of upgrades- Fedora core 1, ALSA
1.0.2b. It shows up in /proc/asound/cards and there are several entries
in /proc/asound/USX2Y. I believe my problem is more of a general one:

The problem: I don't get any sound. The ALI5451 works fine. The US428
doesn't have any mixer controls, so I can't figure out how to crank it up
so I can actually monitor the audio. Playing a sound file in Audacity
1.2.0 seems to work (no errors, and cursor tracking even works correctly),
but again, no sound. Haven't tried recording yet. Should I use jackd?

The question:
Is there a way to control sound output on this box?

I can post results of my travails once I get it working if anyone is
interested.

Thanks for any help...

Paul M.
