In case anyone's interested, here are some results with my Tascam US428.
Still no sound yet save for two <1 second bursts (about a week apart...)

I have, on two occasions, gotten a half-second burst of sound from the
TASCAM while playing a .wav file. Othen than that, nothing, with a
headphone plugged into the 1/4 inch phone jack and an external speaker
plugged into the line-out (thanks to Bill Unruh for the idea...)


Something is getting written to the device:
