Good morning (at least from my timezone),

I'm facing problems setting up my sound properly on my Sony Vaio
notebook. When using CPU throttling with programs like cpufreq[1] or
cpudynd [2], the sound breaks after a short period, mostly when on low
CPU usage. "Breaks" in this case means noisy sound and quirks.

If I do not use dynamic CPU throttling, Alsa behaves well and doesn't
have any problems.

Is this a known problem with Alsa, Kernel 2.6.x and dynamic CPU
throttling in general? Are there ways yet to have both running at the
same time?

Some notes on my system:

Gentoo GNU/Linux with kernel 2.6.x (2.6.3 at the moment)
    - The problem occurs both with patches gentoo-dev-sources as well
      as with vanilla kernel sources.

My soundcard, refering to 'lspci -v':
    - 0000:00:1f.5 Multimedia audio controller:
Intel Corp. 82801CA/CAM AC'97 Audio Controller (rev 02)
Subsystem: Sony Corporation: Unknown device 80fa
Flags: bus master, medium devsel, latency 0, IRQ 9
        I/O ports at 1c00
        I/O ports at 18c0 [size=64]

    The relevant output of 'dmesg':
    - Advanced Linux Sound Architecture Driver Version 1.0.2c.
PCI: Setting latency timer of device 0000:00:1f.5 to 64
        ALSA sound/pci/ac97/ac97_codec.c:1861:

        ALSA device list:

I hope this email isn't too verbose.
