Hello, I'm currently experiencing weird problems with my Terratec Aureon 7.1-Space soundcard (snd-ice1724 driver).
1) Recording When I try to use arecord for recording from analog inputs (for instance 'arecord -fS32_LE -r44100 -c2 -d1 foo.wav'), sometimes the pc crashes. This behaviour depends on the samplerate I am trying to record with: 11025, 44100: crash - the screen goes blank after a few (approximately 2 or 3) seconds and the computer restarts -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 22050: weird behaviour - one time arecord segfaulted, sometimes it just works -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 88200, 176400: no crash, but the recording never completes (arecord reports that it's writing to 'foo.wav' but this message keeps staying on the screen; i aborted arecord after a few minutes and the system doesn't crash - it looks as if arecord is waiting for data but isn't getting any) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 8k, 9600, 12k, 16k, 24k, 32k, 48k, 64k, 96k, 192k: works flawlessly ================================================================================ 2) Analog Inputs The 'Capture' control doesn't work as expected. When viewed in alsamixer this control is shown as two lines of text which can either be "CD Left", "CD Right", "Aux Left", "Aux Right", "Line Left", "Line Right", "Mic Left" or "Mic Right". If both lines show "CD Left" I can hear the Input from the internal CD connectors, if "CD Right" is selected the internal AUX input can be heard, "Aux Left" makes the input of the external Line connector available and "Aux Right" is for the external microphone connector. ================================================================================ 3) Digital Inputs It seems to me as if the digital input isn't working - when I apply an optical audio stream to the TOSLINK connector, I cannot record it with 'arecord -Dhw:0,1', it's also not possible to hear this signal if i set the H/W controls to "IEC958 In". ================================================================================ 4) Outputs If I use xmms to play files to one of the surround outputs (hw:0,2,0 or hw:0,2,1 or hw:0,2,2) or to the digital output (hw:0,1,0) and then switch from X to one of the text consoles or move a window while using X, the sound stutters (as if the content of a buffer was played repeatedly). What puzzles me is that this problem doesn't appear if I use the analog front output (hw:0,0,0). Help would be greatly appreciated.
