Greetings.

I have tried to get ALSA up and running, and I think that I have partially succeded. However, everything is not working right. I would appreciate it if someone could help me out. If you would be so kind as to help me out, please send me a message and I will send you any config files, etc. that you need to see.

To help frame the problem.
System info:
- Debian, Sid - system was installed from a Morphix liveCD. Using custom build kernel 2.6.5

Installation:
- Tried to install and configure ALSA using this as a guide: http://www.linuxorbit.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=Sections&file=index&req=viewarticle&artid=541&page=1

What works:
- It seems that general audio playback is working. Videos (mpeg, DVDs, etc.), XMMS (CDs, MP3's, streaming), and games all have audio.

What doesn't work:
- no midi playback. Trying to play a midi file using muse doesn't create any sound. The program begins playback, but nothing is heard. Using playmidi results in an error message returning stating that no playback device is found. I can play midi files using Timidity, but cannot get anything to play using any midi only player.

- Recording doesn't work right. Using Audacity, the first .wav file recorded is fine, but sebsequent recordings are re-played at half speed? Or I guess it is recorded at half speed.
