Hi
I've just built a new box with an epia 5000 motherboard, Fedora Linux FC2, kernel 2.6.6-1.383. This is my first build of a machine with alsa in the kernel, and first FC2 build. The install detected both the VX222 and the onboard sound chip: 2.6.6-1.383
/proc/asound/cards says:
0 [VX222v2 ]: VX222/v2 - Digigram VX222/v2 Digigram VX222/v2 at 0xdc00 & 0xe000, irq 10 1 [rev40 ]: VIA686A - VIA 82C686A/B rev40 VIA 82C686A/B rev40 at 0xcc00, irq 5
however, although
alsamixer -c1 identifies the onboard sound system as:
Card: VIA 82C686A/B rev40 Chip: VIA Technologies VIA1612A
alsamixer -c0, however, for the VX222 comes up with No mixer elems found
Fair enough I think, I'll just need to tell it about the controls for the VX222 somewhere. However I can't find a defintition of the controls for the vx222 anywhere, and I'm not sure anyway, in the Fedora way of setting things up, where I should be putting such defintiaions anyway? Can anyone help? I'm sure this is trivial, but its one of those days!
oh and equally importantly i guess, given that the system has found my card, do i STILL need to install firmware? (as you can see i'm trying to do the absolute minimum to get this working, so i can do a very simple cheat sheet for getting the vx222 up on fc2!)
thanks
