Using envy24control to patch the S/PIDF input directly to the HW 1 & 2
Outputs does work with the clock set to S/PIDF. It will also work with
the rate set to the rate of the driving device, but I'm sure would
result in timing slips.

The problem is when envy24control is set to patch the output of the
mixer to HW 1 & 2 Out. I can see the level meters on the S/PIDF Input
move but cannot get them to pass sound. The mute and sliders operate
visually but don't have any influence on the sound. Setting the timing
to S/PIDF or other rates has no effect.

The PCM Input 1 & 2 work just fine through the mixer.
