I just have no clue to help you.  I have the same card exactly and
it works fine for me with 5.1 under Mandrakelinux 10.1 Cooker with
two different 2.6.7 rc2 kernels, as well as a 2.6.3 and 2.4.26
kernels.  This is with ALSA 1.0.5:

$ rpm -qa | grep alsa
libalsa-data-1.0.5-1mdk
libalsa2-1.0.5-1mdk
alsa-utils-1.0.5-1mdk

Since 1.4 and 1.5 are not out yet, you are too far into the future
and we cannot help you.  <shrug>   ;-))))
