I have a Linux machine (running 2.4.24-1.ll.rh90.ccrma) now running alsa-1.0.10. It has a couple Creative Labs MP3+ USB audio adapters plugged in.

I *had* been running those through the old OSS interface.

When I booted up with the new ALSA, which had the new snd-usb-audio module and supporting cast, those modules wound up being devices 0 and 1 causing much trouble with the existing applications. I tried putting them in modules.conf as devices 3 and 4 but they wound up as 0 and 1 again. It seemed to work to stop "alsasound" and restart it.

Finally I just moved snd-usb-audio.o out of the modules tree for the kernel version and up to /lib/modules to stop it loading.

Anybody know how to make it boot up and put the usb-audio devices in the right order?

Thanks
Eric Weaver
